The Walled City

The Walled City, also known as Intramuros is one of the famous landmarks in Manila, it was also known as The City within The City. It is one of the oldest fortifications in Manila. Built in 1571, the first fort was palisaded with structure of logs and earth. It became the headquarters of the British occupation from 1792 to 1764.

In this historical place still remains the ruins and main formations during the Spanish era, such as churches, houses, the pathways, and the high walls of the fortress.

It's like going back in the past

Jose Rizal's footsteps

Here, too, Dr. Jose Rizal spent his last hours before his execution on Bagumbayan (now Rizal Park).

Today, Intramuros is a prominent tourist spot where visitors can experience Spanish-era Manila through the walled city's churches, restaurants and museums. What a romantic place! ♥

Taking a walk in Intramuros is a priceless treasure to be shared with the world. :)
